A Fragment of Being
A Fragment of Being begins with the body, color, silence, and memory—an experience lived within us before it becomes conscious remembrance. The faceless figures embody fragments of a shared human experience. In Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological perspective, the body is the primary site of perception, where time, touch, and memory converge. Color becomes a language of life, wound, memory, and light, while white opens a quiet space for the possibility of renewal. The works of Elham Mohammadinejad, bringing together illustration, video, and maternal lullabies, create an intermedia space for memory and healing. Colorful figures, women’s presence, and lullabies evoke fragments of human experience, while the lullaby becomes a first sonic shelter—a return to the inner home. Image, sound, body, and memory move gently from wound toward repair, from silence toward song, and from darkness toward color: an invitation to discover a new light within the fragments of being.
